About the size of a standard bedroom. Fits the contents of a 1–2 bedroom apartment comfortably.

  • Full bedroom set
  • Living room furniture
  • Dining set
  • 30–40 boxes

Step 2

Moving checklist

A smooth move starts with a plan. Work through this checklist before, during, and after your move.

4–6 weeks before

  • Decide what to keep, donate, sell, or toss
  • Reserve your storage unit online or by phone
  • Gather packing supplies: boxes, tape, bubble wrap, markers
  • Start packing non-essentials and seasonal items first

1–2 weeks before

  • Label every box with contents and destination room
  • Disassemble large furniture and keep hardware in labeled bags
  • Wrap fragile items individually in bubble wrap or packing paper
  • Pack heavier items in smaller boxes; lighter items in larger boxes

Moving day

  • Load heaviest items first — against the back wall of the unit
  • Stack boxes with heaviest on the bottom, lightest on top
  • Leave a center aisle for easy access to items in the back
  • Place items you'll need soonest near the front of the unit

Storage tips

  • Use shelving to maximize vertical space and keep boxes off the floor
  • Store mattresses upright to save floor space
  • Keep a written inventory of what's in your unit
  • Use climate-controlled storage for electronics, documents, and valuables

Pro tips

Storage tips for Florida

Beat the humidity

Florida's heat and humidity can damage electronics, wood furniture, documents, and clothing. Use a climate-controlled unit for anything sensitive.

Protect your furniture

Cover upholstered furniture with breathable covers (not plastic, which traps moisture). Elevate items off the floor with pallets or shelving.

Pack smart

Fill boxes completely to prevent crushing. Use packing paper or clothing to fill gaps. Seal all boxes with quality tape.

Label everything

Label all four sides of each box so you can read it no matter how it's stacked. Include the room and a brief contents list.
